Eggshell inlay is a traditional East Asian craft, passed down through generations, involving the delicate process of cracking, roasting, and coloring eggshells to create intricate patterns. Sourced from local food industries, such as bakeries and farms. This sustainable practice repurposes leftovers to minimize waste, blending cultural heritage with modern creativity. Nature Squared's technique preserves the integrity of the eggshells, allowing flexibility in crafting unique designs.
Manufacturing Process:
The inlay process involves carefully breaking pieces, cleaning, and preserving their integrity, then handcrafting them into unique designs.
For inlay eggshell, we use a meticulous controlled cracking technique, where each delicate fragment is placed to enhance the surface design. This process goes beyond simple assembly and our advanced colour applications add depth and texture.
An example of the surface in your library is our snakeskin pattern, achieved by cracking eggshells in a concave, inward-facing manner to create subtle curves that mimic the scales of a snake. Additionally, we ensure that each piece is carefully sanded and polished for a smooth finish.
Interior Applications:
This surface has a vast selection of application and it's curated for residential & hospitality projects. It could be inlaid on edges, on curves, round, oval or irregular shapes such as furniture, wall & ceiling, objects, accessories etc.
Eggshell surface is hardwearing and suitable for residential and hospitality projects such as table tops and other high-traffic areas without issues, abrasion and wear resistance.
